After a four month delay, my travel plans are back in gear. My back has healed thanks to 2 months of rehab and a re-dedication to going to the gym, eating better, sitting up straight and generally trying not to do all the things that caused it in the first place.
I've booked a flight to Peru for the end of October that will give me two weeks to explore Lima, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. From there, I'll head to Sydney to spend the rest of '06 traveling around Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
I haven't booked anything beyond that as I plan to figure things out as I go the rest of the way. If something grabs my attention, then I'll alter plans accordingly. But, there are many places on my 'must see' list that I'm hoping to go, so the following is a loose outline of my likely itinerary:
- November: Peru/Australia
- December: Australia/New Zealand/Fiji
- January: SE Asia
- February: SE Asia
- March: India
- April: Greece/Egypt
If my funds hold out longer than expected, or I find a means of incurring income, then I'll likely stay out longer. I would love to go back to Africa and explore more of the continent. China is also on my list of places I'd like to see and exploring more of Europe would be great (hopefully the value of the US dollar improves by then).
So, stay tuned. I'm sure I'll provide a few updates between now and my departure. Then, I'll update as frequently as possible from beyond the confines of the U.S.
